NAILD Rebrands Starving For Darkness Podcast

ST. PAUL, Minn. — NAILD’s podcast series, “Starving For Darkness“, will be rebranded. The series, which was created in partnership with the International Dark Sky Association, the Illuminating Engineering Society, and the National Lighting Bureau, will proceed under the title, “Restoring Darkness”.

As part of this change, Jane Slade will be leaving as host of the program. Slade’s contributions to the creation and successful launch of the series were noteworthy. Her ongoing participation as co-host and then host, combined with the guidance and coaching of Michael Colligan and the creative and technical support of his media company Get a Grip Studios, led to significant commercial success. In August 2021, NAILD was honored for its creation with inclusion in the IES Progress Report. The podcast, along with Slade’s years of work in the darkness restoration movement, earned her the IDA’s Dark Sky Defender Award in November 2021.

All of the parties involved in the management and production of the series thank her for her contributions and wish her well in her next project. Hosting duties will be taken up by Michael Colligan and Starlight Son Chez until a permanent host can be selected.

While the title has changed, the series’ producers will continue to advocate for the preservation and restoration of natural darkness with a focus on the technical and practical aspects of making that happen. The web presence will shift to RestoringDarkness.com, but subscribers will not see any disruption to current feeds, distribution networks, or video channels.

Should you wish to interview as a host or co-host for the series or require further information with respect to this release, please contact the NAILD Office at info@NAILD.org.
