Craig Causer

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) is proud to announce the appointment of Craig Causer as the new Editor-in-Chief of Lighting Design and Application (LD+A) magazine, effective September 25. In this role, Causer will lead the editorial team and oversee the publication’s content strategy to continue providing industry professionals with high-quality, insightful, and inspiring information on lighting design and applications.

Causer brings a wealth of editorial knowledge and experience to his new position. Most recently, he has worked for global asset management firm Point72 as a Technical Science Writer; prior to that, he worked at IEEE for 14 years as a Managing Editor, where he successfully managed 30 magazine issues per year. During that time, he conceived and materialized an IEEE Potentials theme issue on Walt Disney Imagineering, becoming the most successful issue in the publication’s 40-year history.

“We are thrilled to welcome Craig Causer as the new Editor-in-Chief of LD+A magazine,” said Colleen Harper, CEO & Executive Director of the IES. “Craig’s deep understanding of the editorial process, along with his passion for sharing insights and trends through industry publications, make him the perfect choice to lead our editorial team. We look forward to the exciting contributions and fresh perspectives he will bring to the magazine.”

In his new role, Causer will be responsible for shaping the editorial direction of LD+A, working closely with industry experts, designers, engineers, and contributors to provide readers with the latest developments, trends, and best practices in lighting design. He will also oversee the magazine’s digital presence, ensuring that LD+A continues to be a valuable resource for professionals in the lighting community.

“I am honored to join the LD+A team as Editor-in-Chief,” Causer said. “Lighting design plays a crucial role in enhancing our surroundings and improving our quality of life. I am excited to contribute to LD+A‘s mission of enhancing and improving the practice of lighting and to sharing the innovations and ideas that shape the future of our industry.”

Causer’s appointment comes at a pivotal time for the lighting industry as it continues to evolve with advancements in technology and sustainability. LD+A remains committed to providing its readers with the most up-to-date information and insights to navigate these developments successfully.

Causer succeeds Paul Tarricone, who announced his retirement in June.
