Former VP at Cooper Industries Passes Away

Glen Erik Thor, 75 of Powder Springs, GA passed away on Friday, March 8, 2024.

Glen’s career in the lighting industry began at Valmont Industries in Valley, Nebraska. Initially hired as a supervisor, he was soon recognized for his leadership and ability to work well with people and was promoted to a sales position. In 1983, he was hired by Cooper Lighting, Cooper Industries, and rose to National Business Development Manager, Western Area Sales VP at Cooper Industries. Glen held other leadership positions at Magnetek, and Ballantyne Strong. He retired in March 2014 and continued to live in Cobb County, GA until his passing.

In retirement, Glen was a dedicated supporter of Shepherd’s Men, an organization founded to raise awareness and support of the SHARE Military Initiative. This nationally renowned program focuses on assessment and treatment for American military veterans who have sustained mild to moderate Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) during post-9/11 service. Glen served on the inaugural team in 2014 and continued to provide logistical support for the annual multi-state campaigns to raise funds which supported the annual SHARE operating budget. It was a cause dear to Glen, and he devoted many happy hours to it.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 16 at Mayes Ward Dobbins Funeral Home, Historic Marietta Chapel with Rev. Brandon Owen Officiating.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.
