Borden of The Kichler Companies Receives Pillar of the Industry Award

DALLAS—Eric Borden, director of business development for The Kichler Companies, was awarded the 2014 Pillar of the Industry Award by the American Lighting Association (ALA). Borden was honored in front of his peers during the ALA Annual Conference in Nashville, Tenn., on the evening of Sept. 16, 2014.

The Pillar of the Industry awards recognize ALA members for their unique and meaningful service to advance the lighting industry and ALA’s programs and mission. Award recipients are nominated by ALA members and staff and selected by the ALA Awards Committee.

Borden has been in the lighting industry for over 36 years, holding a wide range of positions, from sales manager to coordinator and instructor at Sea Gull Lighting’s Learning Center. He also holds ALA’s Lighting Specialist designation, a certification that requires individuals to have studied the comprehensive, Residential Lighting Training Manual, and passed an exam covering every aspect of the lighting industry, including trends, technology and technical developments.

Borden has also been instrumental in the success of ALA’s educational programs. He serves as chairman for the ALA Education Committee. During his service, he developed various programs and ideas, which have had a positive impact on the association and the lighting industry. Borden’s extensive lighting knowledge and industry experience made him an ideal candidate for the 2014 Pillar of the Industry Awards.
