MELVILLE, N.Y. — Leviton announced that its award-winning Decora Smart with Wi-Fi Technology lighting controls will be featured in the debut episode of TLC’s new “Make This Place Your Home” series. Hosts Jackie Zeman and Jaime Laurita will host the new weekly show, demonstrating innovative and creative solutions to motivate and excite experienced homebuilders, long-time homeowners, and first-time buyers. The series will premiere Saturday, September 29 on TLC at 9:00 a.m. EST/PST, 8:00 a.m. CST, and 10:00 a.m. MST.
In the debut episode, Leviton helps the homeowners make their house a smart home by updating the existing lighting controls throughout the house. The homeowners are introduced to the benefits of adding wireless Decora Smart lighting control to any home, including scheduling, remote lighting control access from anywhere, voice control and more. The family then self-installs an in-wall Wi-Fi Dimmer (DW6HD) for their dining room chandelier, easily changing the light switch color from the default white to a more “décor appropriate” black, as well as a Wi-Fi Switch (DW15S) to control table lamps near their entryway. They also add Wi-Fi Plug-In Dimmers (DW3HL) for standard hanging lamps in their living room.
The homeowners, who always look for ways to further customize their home, then use the free My Leviton app to create time-based schedules that are a perfect fit for their family, such as turning all devices off automatically each night, and setting up vacation mode, which is particularly important to their busy, traveling family. Vacation mode will randomize their lights when they’re away, providing a lived-in look for safety and convenience. They also use the app to connect an Amazon Echo Dot, providing voice control of their dining room, kitchen, and entry-way lighting.
