Ledvance Names Head of Marketing

WILMINGTON, Mass. – Ledvance, maker of Sylvania general lighting products in North America, named Wolfgang Mailaender as Head of Marketing for the company’s U.S. and Canada region. In this role, he is responsible for trade and retail marketing, in addition to managing the Ledvance and Sylvania brands locally, and is based in the company’s North America headquarters in Wilmington, Mass. For 20 years, Mailaender has been with Ledvance and OSRAM’s general lighting business, which was recently carved out to become Ledvance. During those two decades, he held various marketing and sales leadership positions to support the retail and trade channels. Prior to being with Ledvance and OSRAM, Mailaender held sales, marketing and business development positions at Mars, Incorporated, the global manufacturer of confectionery, pet food, and other food products and animal care services, and Kodak, the imaging technology company.

“We are entering a new chapter of the Ledvance story and look forward to what’s ahead for us in 2018. Some recent highlights include introducing industry-first smart lighting products, expanding our luminaire portfolio to include new beautiful fixtures for residential and hospitality applications, and bringing to market more LED products out of our U.S. factories. Wolfgang’s wealth of marketing expertise is going to be a great asset in growing our success and the success of our channel partners,” said Jim Johnson, managing director for U.S. and Canada, Ledvance.

“I am excited to be supporting the Sylvania product brand which has such a great heritage of quality, and also build our Ledvance corporate brand as our company transforms to be the world’s leading innovative LED lighting company,” said Mailaender. “My personal mantra is developing marketing initiatives that create value beyond price for our sales force and channel partners, and support their activities by telling strong stories that resonate with the end customer. Ledvance is still a relatively new start-up company, and we have tremendous opportunities ahead.”
