NEW YORK — The LEDucation 2020 Virtual Trade Show and Conference begins in a few weeks. New registrants still have time to sign up for the lighting industry’s first-ever virtual trade show and conference.
Taking place August 18th and 19th, the show and conference marks the first time attendees will be able to virtually view over 250 exhibitors at no charge, as well as have access to a variety of accredited webinars—all with a focus on solid-state lighting.
“Providing a valuable platform for manufacturers to demonstrate their products, services, and expertise, in addition to the availability of learning opportunities, takes on even more meaning under current conditions when the need for information and education is critical to those in the industry,” said LEDucation co-chairs and DLFNY members, Burt Grant and Caroline Rinker. “It is our commitment to the lighting community to continue our mission of presenting the power and importance of lighting in design.”

The conference will host four comprehensive panel discussions on Lighting Controls, presented by specialists in the industry. Proving especially popular in pre-registrations, this variety of presentations includes how technology and user expectations have changed the process of designing lighting controls, how to get controls to work, LED sports lighting and in-depth discussions on DMX control methods.
Four lighting design sessions include discussions on drivers, an analysis of two distinct visual worlds—illusion vs. allusion — the merging of digital and architectural spaces and different approaches to design. For interior designers and students who would like to learn more about lighting, noted interior designer Charles Pavarini III will present an overview of LED technology.
The Human Centric track will feature three sessions, focused on the very topical subject of how lighting impacts health and wellness, including circadian lighting, how color constancy plays a role in health and bridging the gap between LEED and Well.
The IoT/PoE/BT/Tech category features two sessions, one on wireless versus POE and the second on the ins and outs of Power over Ethernet (POE).
In the Codes arena are sessions on the new NY Stretch Code Standards and developments in emergency controls. And Outdoor Lighting and Facade/Bridge Lighting offers information on outdoor pedestrian spaces, how lighting can turn structures into experiences and lighting for the future urban night.
Women in Lighting + Design (WILD), will discuss navigating project management from design through commissioning, how to build a project powerhouse team, avoid pitfalls and how to strengthen one’s voice as a woman from any field in the design and construction industry.
Other presentations will include luminaire design and manufacturing, and a case study of He’e Nalu—a light art installation inspired by waves.
