EYE Lighting Supports CTSC Scholarship

Mentor, Ohio – EYE Lighting International, a leading manufacturer of lamps, luminaires, controls, and related lighting products, has awarded a scholarship to James Ryan of Cleveland Heights, a 2013 Benedictine High School graduate, through the Cleveland Technical Societies Council (CTSC) Scholarship and Achievement Awards. James will be attending The Ohio State University to study Mechanical Engineering.

Tom Salpietra, president and COO commented, “EYE Lighting is committed to providing support to the next generation of manufacturing entrepreneurs and engineers. These students are top scholars with engaging new experiences ahead of them as they begin their collegiate and professional careers. Awarding this scholarship supports CTSC and its programs for educating students about rewarding careers in manufacturing and engineering, which is critical to the future of our industry.”

During the 67th Annual CTSC Scholarship and Achievement Awards, 22 scholarships were awarded to local high school students. Nearly 200 local science, technology and educational professionals attended the awards in May with special guest speaker, Baiju Shah, chief executive office at BioMotiv (formerly BioEnterprise), a drug development company.

Since 1947, the CTSC annually awards $1,000 college scholarships to the best and brightest science and technology students in Northeast Ohio, as nominated by their teachers. CTSC grants approximately $20,000 in scholarships annually to students from more than 150 area high schools.
