tED magazine received the following news release from RAB Lighting related to a recent story on the company’s WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notice) filed in New Jersey.
NORTHVALE, NJ – February 28, 2018:
Today, RAB Lighting Inc. announced that no net headcount changes are expected from the company’s recent mandatory filing under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (W.A.R.N.) Act of 1988. The law requires companies to alert the public of actions that may result in a workforce reduction. The company filed the W.A.R.N. notice in preparation for two operational changes; the relocation of its northeast distribution center, and the rescheduling of a work shift. Together, the changes will move work to different locations and different times of the day, and as a result, some current workers will be affected.
RAB’s new, more extensive state-of-the-art warehouse and distribution center in Cranbury, NJ is approximately 65 miles south of its current location in Northvale, NJ. Current warehouse workers can apply for positions at the new facility, and new workers will be hired as necessary to fill open positions at the Cranbury location.
Additionally, the company’s move to a larger manufacturing facility in Northvale enables it to consolidate assembly operations into two separate day shifts and eliminate the night shift. Combining all work into daytime hours will further streamline operations and provide improved management oversight. The company now expects nearly all affected employees will be placed on a daytime shift.
