West Caldwell, NJ – The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has named MaxLite 2014 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year. The EPA is recognizing MaxLite for the second time in five years as a Partner of the Year for demonstrating exemplary commitment and dedication to energy efficiency through the development and education of energy-efficient lighting solutions. The award will be formally presented to MaxLite CEO and President, Yon Sung, at the upcoming ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. on April 29, 2014.
“We are honored to receive our second ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Award,” said Yon Sung. “Our team at MaxLite invests a considerable amount of time and effort in research and development to design more innovative, energy-efficient lighting solutions. We are also a company dedicated to learning and development and are strongly committed to giving back to the community through our support of Habitat for Humanity and other non-profit organizations.”
MaxLite last received the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Award in 2009 and has been an ENERGY STAR Partner since 1993. MaxLite offers a portfolio of more than 250 ENERGY STAR certified lamps and luminaires, which comprises nearly 60 percent of the company’s lamp and fixture offerings in qualified categories.
Among its list of ENERGY STAR certified products released in 2013, MaxLite introduced the industry’s first 10-watt LED GU24 Omnidirectional A19 Lamp. The A19 lamp is the first GU24 LED lamp achieving ENERGY STAR certification as a subcomponent for lighting fixture manufacturers, and is designed to save more than 80 percent in energy while offering a long 25,000-hour life.
In 2013, MaxLite partnered with Habitat for Humanity to offer utility rebates on ENERGY STAR certified products at 80 stores nationwide. Additionally, MaxLite donated $180,000 in ENERGY STAR-certified luminaires and lamps to Habitat for Humanity for their Home Builders Blitz this year.
Outside of giving back to the community, MaxLite is committed to learning and development. MaxLite provides ongoing educational offerings of ENERGY STAR-certified products to employees, representatives, utilities, distributors, specifiers, and customers through the MaxLite Lighting and Technology University (MLTU) website, monthly webinar series, seminars, and video conferences.
The 2014 Partner of the Year Awards are given to a variety of organizations to recognize their contributions to reducing greenhouse gas emissions through superior energy efficiency. Award winners are selected from the 16,000 organizations that participate in the ENERGY STAR program.
“MaxLite is helping consumers save money and reduce harmful carbon pollution by producing energy-efficient ENERGY STAR products,” said EPA Deputy Administrator Bob Perciasepe. “This outstanding effort in product manufacturing demonstrates a commitment to reducing our nation’s greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change.”
