SAN JOSE, Calif. — Lumileds recently announced that Matt Roney has joined the company as President of the Automotive Business Unit. Roney will succeed Mircea Buzgar-Nazare, who will become the company’s Senior Vice President for Business Transformation.
Roney comes to Lumileds from Stanley Infrastructure, a division of Stanley Black & Decker, where he was the Chief Operating Officer. Roney has extensive experience in both private equity companies and the automotive industry. Prior to its acquisition by Stanley, Roney was the President of Paladin. Before that, he was the Vice President and General Manager of the Global Steering Business at TRW Automotive, a $2.5 billion global manufacturer of electronic and hydraulic steering systems. Roney has a BS in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University, an MSE in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Roney will be based at Lumileds Farmington Hills office.
In addition, Mircea Buzgar-Nazare becomes Lumileds first Senior Vice President of Business Transformation. In his new role, Mircea is responsible for optimizing the asset and cost structure of Lumileds and will lead the company’s activities in mergers and acquisitions.
