Each year, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) honors a group of businesses and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to protecting the environment through superior energy efficiency achievements. Whether a first time Partner of the Year winner or a Sustained Excellence winner for many years, these ENERGY STAR award-winning partners from across the country demonstrate that delivering real climate solutions makes good business sense and strengthens our economy.
Among this year’s 206 winners are more than 150 organizations that ENERGY STAR is recognizing for their year-over-year commitment to energy efficiency through the program’s highest honor: ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award. Their sustained commitments are essential to meeting the challenge of climate change and enabling a transition to a clean energy economy.
Cooper Lighting Solutions, a business unit of Signify, has won the 2021 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award from the EPA and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for the seventh consecutive year. This award recognizes continued leadership and superior contributions to ENERGY STAR.
In line with its sustainability goal, Cooper Lighting Solutions deployed millions of ENERGY STAR-certified solutions in both commercial and residential markets, increasing the number of ENERGY STAR-certified configurable models by 19% with new products. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the ENERGY STAR-certified products provided by the company to consumers represented a 48% increase in avoided electricity consumption compared to the previous year. Between 2017-2020, Cooper Lighting Solutions’ HALO LED Recessed Lighting offering to businesses and consumers averaged an annual increase of 40% in avoided electricity consumption.

Likewise, GE Lighting, a Savant company, was also recognized with the 2021 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award for its continued leadership and superior contributions to ENERGY STAR. This is the first ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award as GE Lighting, a Savant company. Since the inception of the ENERGY STAR Awards, this is the 16th ENERGY STAR Award and 11th Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award.
The ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award is the highest honor among ENERGY STAR awards. Winners are part of a distinguished group that has made a long-term commitment to fighting climate change and protecting public health through energy efficiency. The EPA presents the Sustained Excellence Award to partners that have already received ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year recognition for a minimum of two consecutive years and have gone above and beyond the criteria needed to qualify for recognition. Winners hail from small, family-owned businesses to Fortune 500 organizations — representing energy efficient products, services, new homes and buildings in the commercial, industrial and public sectors.
Greenlite was recognized for its outstanding initiatives to promote ENERGY STAR residential products including LED Lighting and Smart Thermostats through its series of record-breaking innovative energy-efficiency programs nationwide. These initiatives launched in partnership with public & private utilities nationwide resulted in the distribution of millions of energy-efficiency products across various socio-economic populations and enabled residential consumers to save significant energy and money.
