The Global Lighting Association announced that the Company’s Board of Directors has appointed Gerald Strickland as Secretary General of the Global Lighting Association, effective 1st January 2023.
Strickland has more than 20 years of experience advising and supporting regional lighting industry associations and regulators in the alignment of international energy efficiency and environmental regulations with a focus on the lighting sector. On behalf of a number of regional lighting associations, he has played a key role in securing mandatory legislation for the phase out of inefficient lighting across the European Union and in the Middle East and Africa regions. He has served as an advisor to the Australian Department of Climate Change & Energy Efficiency, the National Reform & Development Commission of the People’s Republic of China, the UN Environment & Development Programs, the World Bank, the International Energy Agency and numerous leading international lighting manufacturers.
“I am very keen to join the Global Lighting Association to continue to focus on the global lighting industry’s commitment to sustainability, human health and the rational use of energy. The lighting industry has radically transformed over the last 20 years to meet many of the challenges of the present and I look forward to supporting our global team to implement many of these solutions for the future,” said Strickland.
“I’ve known Gerald for a long time and I am happy that the Global Lighting Association is gaining such an experienced Secretary General. I am convinced that Gerald will bring energy and balance to drive and support the ambitious plans of the association as we enter this new phase,” said Maurice Maes, President Global Lighting Association.
