The Miami Dolphins and power management company Eaton today announced a community programming initiative – “Light Like the Pros” – in which one deserving Miami-Dade or Broward County high school will receive a free Ephesus state-of-the-art LED sports lighting system valued at more than $100,000.
“We look forward to providing one deserving high school football field in South Florida with a state-of-the-art LED lighting system offering many of the same benefits of the system at Hard Rock Stadium,” said Mike Lorenz, president, Eaton’s Ephesus Lighting business. “Over the past five years, professional sports teams have learned to understand the benefits and reliability of an LED lighting system. It’s now time for high schools and municipalities to have the same benefits available to them.”
The program encourages high schools and other facilities that host high school football games in Miami-Dade or Broward counties to apply for the free energy-efficient LED lighting retrofit solution at Dolphins.com/LightLikeThePros. The contest is open to high school football facilities in Miami-Dade or Broward counties that currently have a sports lighting system. Applicants must provide a short essay about the limitations, problems and issues with their current lighting system, and how an energy-efficient LED lighting system can benefit the school, its students and the entire community. Deadline to enter is December 23, 2017.
“Here within the Miami Dolphins we support a mission to transform the lives of youth football players by instilling character building and reinforcing safety standards that help to increase football participation and grow a new generation of Dolphins fans,” Miami Dolphins Senior Vice President of Communications and Community Affairs Jason Jenkins said. “We’re supportive of this community initiative to better illuminate a high school field in South Florida for the betterment of their athletes and we commend Eaton for stepping up and supporting high school football in South Florida.”
The Ephesus All Field Series provides high schools, colleges and municipalities with a high-quality, cost-effective, versatile and controllable outdoor LED sports lighting solution. Engineered to satisfy customers’ specific needs, its multiple mounting options, low weight and low Effective Projected Area (EPA) make it one of the first LED fixtures designed to easily retrofit into existing sports lighting infrastructure to dramatically reduce installation costs. The enhanced engineered optics efficiently deliver uniform light on the field to significantly reduce unwanted spill light and sky glow. Typically, a facility that switches to an Ephesus LED lighting solution will virtually eliminate maintenance and reduce energy costs by 70 percent over typical legacy sports lighting systems.
In addition, Eaton will be a supporting collaborator of the prominent Dade vs. Broward All-Star Game presented by Broward College. The popular postseason contest, in partnership with the Broward County Athletic Association (BCAA) and Greater Miami Athletic Conference (GMAC), will feature top prospects from local high schools. Top youth football players from Broward and Miami-Dade County that play in the American Youth Football League (AYFL), Florida Youth Football League (FYFL), Great Miami Pop Warner, Gold Coast Pop Warner, Miami Xtreme, National Youth Football League (NYFL) and Youth Academic Sports League (YASL) also will participate in games throughout the day. Top high school coaches will lead the youth football all-star teams, creating the opportunity for mentorship and development of youth coaches.
