The DLC is pleased to announce that it is now accepting applications under Horticultural Lighting Technical Requirements V2.1.
Hort V2.1 adds new categories of eligible products to the Technical Requirements that support greater whole facility energy savings and accelerate the adoption of LED horticultural light fixtures. Newly eligible categories of products include:
- Externally supplied actively cooled fixtures
- DC-powered fixtures
- LED replacement lamps

Submitting Under Hort V2.1
Although Hort V2.1 adds eligibility for externally supplied actively cooled fixtures, DC-powered fixtures, and LED replacement lamps, no new requirements are added for existing Hort qualified products. Requirements specific to the newly eligible product types are included in V2.1 under the “Special Considerations” section of the policy document (beginning on page 13).
In addition to the Excel-based application form, the DLC requires new worksheets to be submitted with applications for externally supplied actively cooled fixtures and DC-powered fixtures. These worksheets are linked below, and available to download from the ‘Qualify a Fixture‘ pages on the website.

The DLC will host an upcoming webinar to review the changes to the process for submitting horticultural applications. This webinar will be held in English at 1:00 pm EDT on September 9, and in Mandarin at 9:00 pm EDT on September 16.
The webinar will cover:
- Process changes for submitting horticultural lighting applications
- Applications for externally supplied actively cooled fixtures, DC-powered fixtures, and LED replacement lamps
- New types of applications now accepted: family groupings, private label, and product updates
- Reported data requirements
- Invoicing and publishing of products
