Nora Lighting Team Gives Back to Veterans

COMMERCE, CA — Nora Lighting Executive Vice President Jilla Farzan spearheaded a team effort to raise funds and donate building materials for Homes For Our Troops, a privately-funded non-profit organization that builds specially-adapted homes for vets who have returned with serious injuries.

Under the direction of Farzan, Nora employees, sales reps and associates contributed funds to help construct ADA-compliant homes with more 150 special adaptations, including roll-in showers, roll-under counter tops, cook tops and sinks, and other specialized items such as lift systems, keyless door entry and voice-activation controls.

“The entire Nora team was very enthusiastic about helping Homes For Our Troops,” said Farzan. “This worthy organization is dedicated to helping those who have so selflessly given to our country. Their motto is ‘Building Homes, Rebuilding Lives,’ and since 2004 HFOT has completed 173 homes across the country.

“By providing vets and their families with a mortgage-free, specially-adapted home, they can focus on family life, recovery and renewing their lives and careers,” she said.

All homes are single-level, open floor plans with hallways that are easily accessible. They average 2,650 square feet and include four bedrooms, two baths and are energy efficient.

Homes For Our Troops is based in Taunton, Massachusetts (www.hfotusa.org).
