ABB Breaks Ground On 75,000 Sq. Ft. Factory in Baton Rouge

Baton Rouge, LA – ABB recently held a ground-breaking ceremony for its new 75,000-sq-ft factory located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The new factory will replace an existing 65,000 sq. ft. facility currently located in the Baton Rouge area. It will be a world-class production facility manufacturing ABB’s KTEK line of industrial level measurement devices used in a wide variety of industries including, oil & gas, chemicals, pulp & paper, power, municipal water and mining. The products will be shipped and supported globally from this new facility. The completion of this project is scheduled for late 2015. KTEK was acquired by ABB in 2010 and this is a major investment in the product line as the business grows.

The current factory employs 150 people, it is anticipated the new factory will require 50 additional new jobs over the next 5 years. Due to the growth anticipated over the next few years, ABB expects to be hiring engineers, technicians and skilled professionals involved in industrial technologies.

Brian Miller, General Manager of the new facility commented; “The location for the factory was chosen to enable ABB to best meet our business’ expansion needs while also remaining in the Baton Rouge area where we have called home for our level products for nearly 40 years. The Baton Rouge area offers great quality of life for our employees and gives us access to an excellent skilled workforce to support our future growth plans.”

The new level measurement factory is part of ABB’s Measurement & Analytics business unit (www.abb.com/measurement) that is among the world’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of instrumentation and analyzers.
